A third experiment, a Solar Wind Composition Experiment (SWCE) was deployed on the Moon by the Apollo 11 astronauts. This experiment was also repeated later by astronauts on Apo 14, 15, and The experiment consisted of an aluminum foil panel, similar to household foil, that collected atomic particles released into space by the Sun. This book, Taking Science to the Moon: Lunar Experiments and the Apollo Program, by Donald A. Beattie, came as quite a surprise. I wasn't even aware of this book until last fall. I figured because of its specialized subject that it was probably a fairly obscure footnote to the library of Apollo/5. Apollo 17 (December 7–19, ) was the final Moon landing mission of NASA's Apollo program, and remains the most recent time humans have travelled beyond low Earth orbit. Its crew consisted of Commander Eugene Cernan, Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt, and Command Module Pilot Ronald Evans, and it carried a biological experiment containing five : Saturn V SA Outgassing data, derived from tests at K ( C) for 24 hours in a vacuum as per ASTM E , have been compiled for numerous materials for spacecraft use. The data presented are the total mass loss (TML) and the collected volatile condensable materials (CVCM). The various materials are compiled by likely usage and alphabetically.

My personal favorite about Apollo is Michael Collins' (Command Module Pilot on Apollo 11) 'Carrying the Fire'. It's fairly personal and does a great job of describing the training process. Another good is by the guy who picked all the Apollo crew. In the Apollo project’s evolving effort to put men on the lunar surface, Apollo 11 was the fifth test flight and the first to carry a Lunar Module capable of an actual moon landing. Buzz Aldrin moves toward a position to deploy two components of the Early Apollo Scientific Experiments Package (EASEP) on the surface of the moon during the Apollo 11 mission.   Created by NASA in and revised in for the Apo 16 and 17 missions, this handbook explains the extravehicular mobility unit, its subsystems, accessories and operation, as well as emergency procedures. Originally printed in two volumes by NASA, this version incorporates both in one : Periscope Film. Project Apollo, the American space program to land men on the moon, originated in On July , , the Apollo program was announced to US industry representatives. On September 1, The Apollo Project Office was formed under the Space Task Group (STG) Flight Systems late October, Convair, GE and Martin were selected to prepare feasibility studies . A book is a set of sheets of paper, parchment, or similar materials that are fastened together to hinge at one side. A single sheet within a book is a leaf, and each side of a leaf is a page. A cutting-edge Apollo 11 science experiment left behind in the Sea of Tranquility is still running today.
